PARK & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
BUSY THREE'S COORDINATOR

The Edina Park & Recreation Department is accepting applications for Busy Three's Playground Coordinator. Responsibilities include:
 

  1. Work closely with Recreation Supervisor to plan, implement and evaluate summer playground program for 3 year olds and parents. 
  2. Prepare weekly theme-based curriculum including: daily songs, stories, art/craft project, games and other age appropriate activities. 
  3. Secure supplies needed for program, communicate supply needs with supervisor well in advance of program.
  4. Provide leadership to Program Assistant, including delegating program responsibilities.   
  5. Actively provide a positive and welcoming environment for skill building/participation and social interaction between parents and participants
  6. Ensure a safe environment at all times.
  7. Communicate with assistant, parents and supervisors about the program and participants.
  8. Solve problems by using personal experience, other staff, parents, supervisors as resources.
  9. Complete necessary forms and program documentation/evaluation and assist other as needed. 
  10. Follow City of Edina policies and procedures and ensure other staff are as well.
  11. Complete all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 20 years of age with high school diploma.
  • One to two years of working with pre-school age children.
  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with parents, participants and supervisor.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or two years completed course work in Early Childhood Education/Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Recreation or other related field.

Dates:           

  • Flexible pre-planning hours available in late Spring (roughly 10 hours)
  • Staff Orientation June 11, 12, 13 (times to be determined)
  • Program dates:  9 to 11:15 a.m. June 23- July 23 Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Additional hours may be available with other recreation programs
  • Family Jamboree on Thursday, July 24 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.



Wage is $10 to $14 per hour, depending on qualifications.
