Space still available for Safety Camp
Edina, Minn., May 7, 2009 – Don’t let your child miss out on Safety Camp!
Space is still available for the Edina Police, Fire and Park & Recreation
departments’ annual interactive safety event.
Safety Camp will be held on Tuesday, July 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the
South Metro Public Safety Training Facility, 7525 Braemar Blvd. ,and is only
open to students entering the fourth grade. Cost for this once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity is $30 per child, and space is limited to the first 100 registered.
At Safety Camp, your child will see the Jaws of Life “save” a dummy; shake paws
with a canine cop and take part in fun interactive activities focusing on fire,
animal, electricity, water, weather and internet safety -- and much more. Each
camper will receive a T-shirt, snack and a pizza lunch.
“We have been doing Safety Camp for years, and I am always ecstatic about the
enthusiasm and response we get from the kids and parents,” said Edina Fire
Marshal Tom Jenson. “By providing such a variety of safety information in a fun
and interactive way, we are hoping that the messages will stick with these kids
and they will be better equipped to stay safe.”
Parents are invited to attend an award ceremony for the campers at 4 p.m. upon
conclusion of the camp. Registration is available online at
www.CityofEdina.com/Parks. For
more information on Safety Camp, call the Edina Park & Recreation Department at
