Council Activities

Annual Plant Sale – The EGC holds a plant sale at Arneson Acres Park the Friday and Saturday before Mother’s Day in May each year, offering choice plants for your garden – annuals, perennials, vegetables and hanging baskets. Many of the plants sold are grown in EGC members’ gardens as well as in the Arneson Acres Greenhouse. Money raised at the plant sale goes toward projects to enhance City parks, and to provide scholarships to horticulture students.

4th Of July Parade – EGC members help Edina celebrate Independence Day by marching in the City parade.

Flower Show – The public is invited to enter floral designs and horticultural specimens in the annual Tri-City Flower Show, which is sponsored by the garden clubs of Edina, Bloomington and Richfield at Southtown Center in Bloomington each summer. The 2007 Tri-City Flower Show will be held on July 28 and 29. For a schedule, contact Dorothy Brindle, 952-926-6865.

Luncheons – The EGC meets twice a year for a luncheon and program to celebrate friendships and the efforts of our projects. The luncheons are usually in June and October.

Environmental Projects – The EGC has teamed up with the League of Women Voters of Edina and the City of Edina to educate residents on the threat buckthorn poses to our woodlands, as well as how to remove it. For information, contact Dianne Plunkett Latham, 952-941-3542.
