Section 180 - Removal of Members of Boards, Commissions and
Committees
180.01 Purpose. The purpose of this Section is to provide
for the removal from office of those members of various governmental boards,
commissions and committees who have repeated absence from the regularly
scheduled meetings of the board, commission or committee of which they are
member.
180.02 Removal. Any member of a board, commission or committee
established by the City Code who fails to attend three consecutive meetings,
whether regular or special, or who fails to attend at least 75% of the scheduled
meetings in any calendar year, whether regular or special, shall be deemed to
have resigned as a member of the board, commission or committee. The
requirement of this subsection shall not apply to attendance at meetings of
committees or subcommittees established by a board, commission or committee.
180.03 Vacancies. Any member of a board, commission or
committee who has been removed pursuant to Subsection 180.02 shall be replaced
by the appointment of a new member who shall serve for the remainder of the term
of the member removed. The appointment shall be made in the same manner as
original appointments to the board, commission or committee are made.
180.04 Exceptions. The removal provisions of Subsection 180.02 shall not
apply to members of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Edina, the Edina
Foundation, the East Edina Housing Foundation or the Council.
